Orcellious Jackson facing drug charges after traffic stop

At 12:37 AM on August 1, 2022, Anchorage Police mid-shift patrol officers responded to the 100-block of Burton Street regarding a report of suspected drug activity in a parking lot.  Upon arrival, officers saw a 2006 silver Mercedes being driven from the area.  The officers conducted a traffic stop on the car for having illegally tinted windows and for being driven without the headlights being illuminated.  Prior to the vehicle coming to a stop near Marge Court and Oklahoma Street, the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and fled eastbound into the woods.  The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and he had opened the door to a moving vehicle* therefore an officer gave chase.  The officer saw the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Orcellious K. Jackson, throw something before lying down.  After Jackson was handcuffed, officers located heroin and pills on his person.  The item Jackson had discarded was recovered; it was a baggie containing meth.

Jackson was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on five outstanding warrants (four felonies and one misdemeanor).  During booking, Corrections Officers found more heroin on Jackson’s person.  Jackson was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance III, Violate Conditions of Release, Tampering with Evidence, Resisting, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II.

The driver of the vehicle was not charged with a crime; he was issued a traffic citation.  The Mercedes was impounded as evidence.  It was not currently registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and it will be searched once a search warrant has been obtained.
