Patrick S. Mora Arrested for Multiple Charges
At 4:06 AM on November 15, 2021, a citizen called APD Dispatch to report a vehicle prowler near Jefferson Avenue and Lois Drive. The caller stated an adult male on a bicycle was looking into parked vehicles. A K9 officer was the first to arrive on scene; he saw the suspect trying to get into a parked car on the 3800-block of Greenland Drive. When the suspect saw the officer, he fled on the bike. The K9 officer exited his patrol vehicle, identified himself as a police officer, and told the suspect to stop. The suspect verbally responded but refused to comply and quickly pedaled away. The K9 officer got back into his vehicle; other responding officers began following the suspect as well. The officers activated their vehicles’ lights and sirens however the suspect continued to ride away from them.
The suspect rode his bike into a snowbank on the east side of Minnesota Drive near W 36th Avenue. The suspect abandoned the bike and began running on foot through a business parking lot. A few of the officers pursued the suspect on foot; the suspect was quickly caught, escorted to the ground, and taken into custody. The suspect was breathing heavily; medics responded to the scene and evaluated the suspect. He was medically cleared.
The suspect gave officers a name and date of birth that were not his own. Officers gave the suspect a False Information warning, but the suspect refused to correctly identify himself. The suspect was ultimately identified through his fingerprints as 31-year-old Patrick S. Mora. A computer check revealed he had an outstanding warrant.
Mora was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his warrant. He was additionally charged with Vehicle Tampering, Obstructing an Investigation by Fleeing, and False Information. Officers contacted Anchorage Pretrial Corrections as Mora was under their supervision. Pretrial asked APD to also charge Mora with Escape III as Mora had not maintained his ankle monitoring device as he was required to.
