Shooting Investigation on 900-block of Richardson Vista Road

Update on 3/12/22: 

Initial indications are that 24-year-old Bruce J. Witt was involved in an altercation outside with the adult male victim.  At some point during the disturbance, Witt produced a handgun and shot the victim.  Police located Witt in his home nearby at 9:52 PM and took him into custody without incident.  After being interviewed by detectives, Witt was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the felony charge of Assault I. 

The victim was transported to the hospital; he is expected to survive his injuries. 

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. There is no indication the parties involved knew one another prior to the disturbance.

At 9:29 PM on March 11, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to the 900-block of Richardson Vista Road regarding a shooting.  An adult male has been transported to the hospital with wounds to his upper body; his condition is unknown at this time. 

Police believe they have contacted everyone involved to include the shooter; there is no concern for public safety.  There will be a police presence in the area while the scene is being processed.
