Stabbing Investigation on the 1600-block of Medfra Street
At 2:08 AM on April 2, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to an apartment complex on the 1600-block of Medfra Street regarding a stabbing. Initial indications are that three adult males and one adult female, all of whom were known to one another, were inside an apartment when an argument broke out among the men. The disturbance moved from inside the apartment to the apartment building’s interior hallway. Once there, 20-year-old James B. P. Hawley JR produced a knife and stabbed one of the other men in the upper body.
Officers located the male victim on a street outside the complex. He was transported to the hospital by AFD medics for treatment of his injury; he is expected to survive. James Hawley was found in the apartment’s parking lot. He was driven to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Afterwards he was remanded at the Anchorage Jail for felony Assault in the First Degree.
The female in the apartment was identified as 31-year-old Alexis I. E. Hawley. She was remanded at Hiland Correctional Center on an outstanding Fail to Appear Felony Warrant stemming from the original charge of Operating under the Influence.
The cause of the disagreement that led to the assault is still under investigation.
A search warrant has been obtained for the apartment the argument took place in. There will be a continued police presence while the scene is processed.
