Stabbing Investigation; Suspect in Custody

On June 19, 2022, at 12:55 AM, Midshift Patrol Officers responded to a local hospital in reference to an adult female who had been stabbed. The victim arrived with life-threatening injuries caused by wounds to the upper body.

 During the investigation, 24-year-old Solomon Renteria was identified as the stabbing suspect. Initial indications are that Renteria and the victim were both passengers in a vehicle with mutual acquaintances. While driving around together, Renteria stabbed the victim in the upper body, he then left the vehicle. Motive for the stabbing is still under investigation. Renteria was later located by police officers in a residence on the 100-block of Turpin Street. He was taken into custody without incident. Solomon Renteria was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Assault 1.

One of the passengers, 24-year-old Daryl Thomas was also taken into custody and remanded at the Anchorage Jail for a warrant unrelated to the case.
