SUSPICIOUS DEATH INVESTIGATION: E 13th/Karluk

ROAD CLOSURES: E 13th is closed between Karluk and Juneau. Please avoid the area and follow the officers’ instructions if you need to be in the vicinity.

UPDATE 4/28/25:

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Anchorage Police Department officers responded to a report of a welfare check near the intersection of East 13th Avenue and Karluk Street. The caller reported concern for an individual inside a parked vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male juvenile inside the vehicle. The Crime Scene Team responded to process the scene, and detectives have opened an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

At this time, no additional details are available. The investigation remains ongoing. Due to the subject being a juvenile, the individual's name will not be released.

NARRATIVE: At approximately 5:30 am on April 27,2025 officers responded to the area of E 13th Avenue and Karluk Street for a welfare check on a subject. Officers arrived and found the subject deceased. Police made observations that warrant a closer look; the circumstances surround the death are still under investigation.

The Crime Scene Team has responded to process the scene.
