TRAFFIC ALERT: MI. 83 SEWARD HIGHWAY, INBOUND AND OUTBOUND LANES.

UPDATE AT 10:12 AM: BOTH INBOUND AND OUTBOUND LANES OF THE SEWARD HIGHWAY ARE OPEN.

ROAD CLOSURES: The Seward Highway is closed at mile 83. Traffic is being rerouted as needed. There is currently no ETA on when the highway will re-open.

NARRATIVE: At 7:30 PM on January 5, 2025, police responded to a semi-truck in a ditch at mile 83 of the Seward Highway. When they arrived on the scene, the semi-truck was submerged in a small lake, not a ditch. The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries. Officers have closed the highway so the tow truck can remove the semi-truck. Currently, there is no ETA on when the highway will reopen. Traffic is being rerouted as needed. This incident is still under investigation; we will give an update when details become available.
