Travis Lee and Alvina Murphy charged in OUI investigation

At 9:50 PM on August 22, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to the intersection of Muldoon Road and Peck Avenue regarding a collision.  Initial indications are that a 2006 red Chevy was being driven southbound on Muldoon Road when it made a left turn to go eastbound on Peck Avenue. In doing so, the Chevy was driven directly in front of a 2006 red Mazda that was being driven northbound on Muldoon.  The two vehicles collided, and both had to be towed from the scene.

Officers contacted 32-year-old Travis J. Lee who was the at-fault driver of the Chevy.  Police also spoke with the passenger of the Chevy, 36-year-old Alvina J. Murphy.  In the back seat of the vehicle was Alvina’s young child.  Both Travis and Alvina showed several signs of impairment, and both were uncooperative with police.

While speaking with police, Travis became argumentative and increasingly angry.  He tried several times to push past the officers and at one point he turned and punched the wall of the building they were standing next to.  As officers moved forward to handcuff Travis, he physically resisted and tried pulling away. Eventually Travis was cuffed and placed into the back seat of a patrol vehicle.  He was transported to the Anchorage Jail for further processing.  Travis continued to be noncompliant and refused to provide a breath sample; his blood was drawn once a search warrant was obtained. Travis was remanded on the charges of Reckless Endangerment, Operating Under the Influence, Resisting, and Refusal.

When officers interviewed Alvina, she initially refused to identify herself and would not cooperate with the interview.  Through the investigation probable cause was developed to support criminal charges for Alvina due to her allowing her child to be in a vehicle operated by a driver whom she knew to be intoxicated.  Alvina was remanded at Hiland Correctional on the charges of Child Neglect – Substantial risk of Injury and Abuse of a Child.

No one involved in the crash required medical attention.  The child was released into the care of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS).
