UPDATE: UNIVERSITY LAKE TRAIL SHOOTING PRESS RELEASE

From the U.S. Attorney’s Office:

Jan. 6, 2025 (Anchorage, Alaska) –Today, an Anchorage grand jury indicted Alex Manley, 21, on 17 felony counts for a shooting in the Anchorage University-Medical area in November and another incident with police in December.

These counts include: four counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, three counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, and eight counts of Assault in the Third Degree.

These charges stem from the Nov. 25, 2024, shooting near University Lake and an incident on Dec. 14, 2024, involving Manley and officers with the Anchorage Police Department. 

Manley will be arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court on Wednesday, January 8th. This case was investigated by the Anchorage Police Department.

The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt.  Manley is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
