Witnesses being sought for Wednesday night disturbance inside Dimond Center Olive Garden
At 9:28 PM on May 24, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to the Dimond Center Olive Garden restaurant regarding an impaired person creating a disturbance. When officers arrived, they saw the glass in the front door had been broken. Items had been strewn around and damaged inside. An adult male, later identified as 25-year-old Keitani S. W. Rudolph, was yelling inside the restaurant. Rudolph refused to follow officers’ commands; Rudolph flipped over a table towards the officers. One of the officers deployed a Taser but it was ineffective. During the entire interaction with Rudolph, Rudolph would posture towards the officers and ball up his fists in a fighting stance.
Rudolph ran outside through an emergency exit door. Rudolph ran eastbound through the parking lot and then fell down. Officers caught up to Rudolph before Rudolph was able to get back up on his feet. Rudolph continued to fight while on the ground; he was successfully cuffed once other officers arrived on scene to assist.
Officers rendered first aid to Rudolph for an injury he had obtained prior to police arrival. Medics arrived and subsequently transported Rudolph to a hospital for treatment. Afterwards the suspect was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was additionally charged with Criminal Mischief III, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting, and two counts of Assault III.
Initial indications are that Rudolph was initially escorted outside the restaurant by managers; managers locked the door behind Rudolph. Rudolph gained access into the restaurant by breaking through the glass door, cutting himself in the process. Rudolph threatened to hit employees with wine bottles.
Outside of Rudolph hurting himself, there were no other injuries.
There were citizens inside the restaurant during the incident who left prior to APD’s arrival. Police are asking those people to contact APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press “0”) so a witness statement may be obtained from them.
