Adam Sanders Arrested in Stabbing Investigation on Fireweed Lane
At 9:06 PM on May 22, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to reports of a stabbing on the 300-block of W Fireweed Lane. Dispatch relayed to responding officers that the suspect had fled on foot; a description of that suspect was given. Shortly thereafter, APD’s traffic sergeant saw a man on the 700-block of W Fireweed Lane. The male matched the suspect description, had visible injuries, and had a knife on his person. 38-year-old Adam Sanders was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment. Afterwards he was driven to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Sanders was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Assault II and Assault III.
Initial indications are that Sanders was in a verbal altercation with a woman outside in a parking lot. The adult male victim saw what was happening and intervened. The victim and the suspect got into a physical fight when Sanders produced a knife and stabbed the victim more than once in the upper body. Sanders also obtained injuries during the scuffle.
The victim stayed at the scene; he was subsequently transported by AFD medics to a hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. It appears the suspect and victim were acquainted with one another.
