Shooting Investigation at Holiday Gas at 4627 Mountain View Drive
Update on 5/22/23:
Initial indications are that 34-year-old Aaron D. Hambright, who was working security at the Holiday Gas Station, contacted an adult male inside the building. The adult male was acting erratically, Hambright asked him to leave. Initially the male refused but ultimately, he exited the gas station; Hambright followed. Once outside the two men got into a verbal argument. The adult male threw rocks at Hambright, hitting Hambright at least once. Hambright fired his weapon, striking the adult male in the upper body.
After being interviewed by detectives at the Anchorage Police Department, Hambright was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the felony charge of Assault I. Hambright did have visible injuries from being struck by the rock. He did not require medical attention.

At 9:11 PM on May 20, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to the Holiday Gas Station parking lot at 4627 Mountain View Drive regarding a shooting. Upon arrival officers located the adult male victim outside. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. His condition is currently unknown.
Police believe they have contacted everyone involved. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
The westbound lanes of Mountain View Drive, between McCarrey Street and N Lane Street, are currently closed. Please avoid the area and use another route. There will be a police presence while the investigation is being conducted.
