Clifford Price JR apprehended by K9 OB in Stolen Vehicle Investigation

At 7:21 PM on December 17, 2022, a gray 2010 Toyota RAV4 was reported as stolen to APD. The vehicle was unlocked and parked with the keys inside on the 3300-block of Eide Street when it was taken.

At 5:56 AM on December 24th, APD responded to a business parking lot on the 10900-block of the Old Seward Highway regarding a report of a person sleeping inside a vehicle for several hours.  Upon arrival officers located the vehicle and confirmed it had been reported as stolen seven days prior.  Officers saw there were three people inside to include the driver, later identified as 37-year-old Clifford W. Price JR.  Officers blocked in the stolen Toyota with their patrol vehicles and began giving the occupants instructions.  Price JR exited from the driver’s seat and ran.  Officers gave Price JR multiple commands to stop, to include K9 warnings, which Price JR ignored.  K9 OB was deployed.  OB bit down on Price JR’s jacket and pulled Price JR to the ground.  Price JR physically fought against the dog and officers; K9 OB released the jacket and subsequently contacted Price JR on his chest.  That allowed the officers to take the suspect into custody.

After being medically cleared at the hospital, Price JR and his two companions were transported to the Anchorage Police Department to be interviewed by detectives.  Once the interviews were over, Price JR was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on three existing warrants (two were felonies stemming from Burglary and Theft charges).  Price was additionally charged with Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, and Resisting.

The adult female and adult male who were inside the Toyota with Price JR were released without being charged.
