Damian Mowery Arrested For Multiple Charges
At 8:09 AM on November 1, 2021, a white 2011 Ford Explorer was reported as stolen to APD. The Ford had been left unlocked and warming up with the keys inside on the 4900-block of E 43rd.
At 1:30 AM on November 4th, an officer assigned to the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit (IDEU) saw the stolen vehicle being driven on the New Seward Highway at Northern Lights Boulevard. The officer briefly lost sight of the vehicle while he was attempting to catch up. The IDEU officer very quickly relocated the Ford parked at an apartment complex on the 3100- block of Cheechako Street. The officer used his patrol vehicle to block in the stolen vehicle from the back while additional officers responded and blocked in the Ford from the front. The adult male driver and adult female passenger were taken into custody without incident.
The two were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. With the victim’s permission, officers searched the vehicle and located a handgun that did not belong to the Ford’s owner.
The passenger was released without being charged. The driver, 31-year-old Damian J. Mowery, was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on an outstanding warrant. He was additionally charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession, Vehicle Theft I, and two counts of Theft II.
