Darick Robison Arrested by K9
On November 2, 2021, at 4:54 PM officers assigned to the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) spotted 31-year-old Darick L. Robison riding a bike near E 3rd Avenue and McCarrey Street. Robison had a felony warrant for the charges of Robbery I, Assault III, two counts of Burglary I, and Theft III. When Robison saw the officers, he fled on his bike. Police gave Robison several commands to stop but Robison did not comply and continued to flee. Police searched for Robison but were unable to locate him.
The next day, on November 3rd at 12:09 PM, ISU received information that Robison may be in a residence on the 200-block of Bunn Street. Just as police were arriving in the area and getting ready to set up a perimeter, Robison exited the home and began riding away on a bicycle. When Robison saw the police, he significantly increased his pace and rode into Dave Rose Park. Officers gave chase all the while announcing themselves and issuing Robison K9 warnings. Robison looked back, saw police behind him, but continued to ride away. K9 Midas was released; Midas contacted Robison’s arm and took him to the ground. Robison physically struggled but officers were ultimately able to take Robison into custody.
Robison was transported to the hospital for treatment of the dog bite. Robison was then taken to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives. Afterwards Robison was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his warrant; he was additionally charged with two counts of Resisting (one count for November 2nd and the other for November 3rd).
Neither K9 Midas nor any of the officers were injured.
