Due to an observant citizen, Andrew Fraser was charged in an Eagle River burglary investigation

At 7:29 PM on April 16, 2022, a citizen called APD Dispatch to report that a male was stealing lumber from houses that were under construction near Curry Ridge Circle and Stephan Valley Drive in Eagle River. Upon arrival, an officer saw a white pickup being driven from the area with lumber in the bed.  The officer contacted the complainant who stated the white pickup belonged to the suspect.  The officer immediately got back into his patrol vehicle and went looking for the white truck.

Another responding officer saw the pickup being driven on the Old Glenn Highway near Mercy Drive.  The officer followed the pickup until it pulled into a driveway on the 16800-block of Mercy Drive; a backup officer arrived shortly thereafter.  The officers contacted the driver, later identified as 56-year-old Andrew R. Fraser.  While one officer was conducting a computer check on Fraser, the second officer interacted with Fraser and noticed signs of impairment.  When the first officer walked back up to Fraser, Fraser pulled out a jacket and stated there was a handgun inside.  The officers secured the jacket and the weapon.

Officers asked Fraser to step out of his pickup; they subsequently administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).  Upon completion the decision was made to charge Fraser with Driving under the Influence.  The officers informed Fraser he was under arrest; Fraser began to physically resist during the handcuffing process.  Once the handcuffs were on, Fraser was transported to the Anchorage Jail for further processing.  Ultimately Andrew Fraser was remanded on the charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV – Possess While Intoxicated, Criminal Trespass II, Theft IV, Resisting, Burglary II, and DUI.

If you see something, say something.  Due to the citizen immediately reporting suspicious activity to authorities, the suspect was charged for the crimes he had committed.
