Fatal Crash Investigation at Muldoon Rd and E 6th Av

Update on 9/10/24:

The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Shannon Wallner.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

Original on 9/8/24:

At 12:30 AM on September 8, 2024, Anchorage Police Mid-Shift Patrol Officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Muldoon Road near E 6th Avenue.

Initial indications are that an adult male was traveling southbound on Muldoon Road in a black Chevy pickup when he struck an adult female pedestrian in the roadway, south of the intersection with E 6th Avenue.  She was not in a crosswalk.  The victim was declared deceased at the scene by AFD Medics.

The driver remained on site and was cooperative with police.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation; no charges have been filed.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) responded to process the scene.  All lanes of Muldoon Road between E 6th Avenue and Dover Avenue were shut down while that occurred.  The roadway will be open once the tow truck has arrived and removed the pickup.

The victim will be identified after next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
