Fatality Investigation at Boniface Parkway and Caribou Avenue

Update on 9/30/24:

The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Steven Bennett.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

Original on 9/27/24:

At 3:46 PM on September 27, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to Boniface Parkway and Caribou Avenue regarding a serious injury collision. Initial indications are that a Honda motorcycle was travelling southbound on Boniface Parkway when it struck a Subaru Crosstrek which was traveling westbound on Caribou Avenue. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.  

A bystander performed lifesaving measures on the motorcycle driver until Anchorage Police and Anchorage Fire Department arrived on scene. The driver of the motorcycle was transported by the Anchorage Fire Department to a local hospital where he was ultimately declared deceased.

The driver of the Subaru Crosstrek remained on scene and is cooperating with police. No citations or charges have been filed; the investigation is ongoing.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) has responded to process the site. All southbound lanes of Boniface Parkway at the Glenn Highway overpass and northbound lanes of Boniface Parkway at Caribou Avenue will remain closed while this occurs.
