Fatality Investigation near W Northern Lights Bl and Minnesota Dr

At 7:31 PM on September 21, 2024, Anchorage Police Swing Shift Patrol Officers responded to multiple reports of a pedestrian-involved vehicle collision.  Initial indications are that an adult female was crossing the westbound lanes of W Northern Lights Boulevard, approximately 500 feet to the west of the crosswalk at the intersection with Minnesota Drive, when she was struck by a westbound Kia SUV.   She was declared deceased at the scene by AFD Medics.

The driver of the Kia stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.  No citations or charges have been filed; the investigation is ongoing.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) has responded to process the site.  All westbound lanes of W Northern Lights Boulevard, to the west of the intersection with Minnesota Drive, will remain closed while this occurs.
