Fatality Investigation on top of the A/C Couplet

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Latrell Washington.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

At 3:23 AM on May 26, 2024, Anchorage Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on top of the A/C couplet.  Initial indications are that an adult male motorcyclist was traveling southbound on North A Street (on top of the bridge) when he crashed.  He was declared deceased at the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) has responded to process the site; a drone may be utilized.  The southbound lanes on top of the bridge are closed while the investigation occurs.  The lane closures are expected to last for several hours.  Northbound traffic on N A Street (on top of the bridge) is still open.  Those needing to travel southbound through the area may utilize Ocean Dock Road which turns into N C Street which then turns to the right into W 2nd Avenue.

Anyone who either witnessed the crash, or has surveillance footage of the area, who have not yet spoken with police are asked to contact APD Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (press 0).
