Gary Zaremba JR facing charges in burglary investigation
At 1:11 PM on February 14, 2022, Anchorage Police responded to a pawn shop regarding 37-year-old Gary H. Zaremba JR who was attempting to pawn three swords. Arriving officers arrested Zaremba for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
At 1:46 PM, while officers were still on the pawn shop call, other officers responded to a residential burglary on the 3300-block of Leonard Circle which had occurred the day before. Officers contacted the homeowner who stated that after being gone for a few hours on February 13th, he returned home to find that someone had broken into the home by forcing entry through the kitchen window. Items were missing from the house to include swords. The homeowner, who had left his cell phone behind while he was gone, discovered that Gary Zaremba had used the cell phone to transfer money from the homeowner’s account to his own. The homeowner and Zaremba are known to one another as they are related.
While the officers who had responded to the pawn shop were in the process of transporting Zaremba to the jail for his warrant, they learned of the burglary call wherein Zaremba was a suspect. After conferring with the officers who had responded to the burglary, Zaremba was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on his warrant. He was additionally charged with Unauthorized Use of Access Device, Burglary I, and Theft III.
