Homicide; 1000-block E 28th Avenue

Update on 5/15/17 at 5:10 PM:

In the afternoon of Monday, May 15, 2017, an arrest warrant for Murder I, Murder II, and Tampering with Evidence was obtained for 91-year-old Duane Marvin who shot and killed his wife in their home on the 1000-block of E 28th Avenue.  Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that after shooting his wife, Duane had hidden the gun in a cabinet in his house prior to going over to his neighbor’s home to report that his wife was deceased. The motive for the shooting is not known at this time.

Just after 5 PM on May 15th Duane turned himself in at the Anchorage Police Department where he was taken into custody.

At 1:18 PM on Sunday, May 14, 2017, Anchorage Police responded to a home on the 1000-block of E 28th Avenue in response to reports of a deceased adult woman.  Officers located the victim who had died of a gunshot wound; it was determined she was a homicide victim.

While no arrests have been made at this time, detectives believe they have contacted everyone involved and there are no outstanding suspects.

This investigation is still on going and more information will be released as it’s available.
