Homicide; 3400-block Spenard Road
Update 10/18/18:
Detectives received information that Linda Richards fled Alaska and requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service to locate her.
The suspect was located this morning in Eastpointe, Michigan hiding in a residence. She was taken into custody and transported to Macomb County Jail in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
Detectives will be coordinating with Michigan law enforcement for the suspect’s extradition back to Alaska.
Detectives also continue to investigate the others involved in this homicide.
UPDATE 9/14/18 1:45 p.m.:
Detectives have determined Linda Richards (49 years old) is a suspect in this investigation. A warrant has been issued for her arrest on charges of Murder 2, Kidnapping and Robbery 1.
The suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach her. Call 911 immediately or Crime Stoppers at 907-561-STOP.
Over the summer, detectives determined Austin Cottrell (18 years old) was also a suspect in this investigation. He was located at the Anchorage Jail already incarcerated for an unrelated investigation. He faces additional charges from this investigation for Murder 2, Kidnapping and Robbery 2.
Detectives continue to investigate the others involved in this homicide.
UPDATE 2/6/18:
The homicide victim has been identified as 52-year-old Carl R. Bowie JR. There have been no arrests and there are no further details being released at this time.
ORIGINAL RELEASE:
On 1/28/18 around 8:15 p.m., Dispatch received multiple reports of shots fired in the area of 36th Avenue and Arctic Blvd. As officers with the Patrol Division were arriving in the area, Dispatch received additional calls about shots being fired in the 3400 block of Spenard Road. When officers arrived on scene, witnesses reported hearing the shots and seeing several people running in different directions. Officers discovered the body of an adult male inside a residence. He was declared dead at the scene.
