Homicide; 8100-block E 36th Avenue

Update on 2/16/18:
Around 3:40 p.m., Dispatch received a tip that Aarron Settje was spotted inside Target (150 West 100th Avenue).

The preliminary investigation found that the suspect walked out of Target and drove off in a black Saturn sedan. Officers with the Patrol Division and CAP located the vehicle in the area of C Street and Dimond. The suspect was taken into custody, arrested on outstanding homicide and robbery warrants and transported to jail.

Credit is due to those tipsters this afternoon who recognized Settje from the Nixles and called 911 immediately. Aarron Settje was considered an armed and dangerous suspect on the loose.

Feb 1st Update:
At 5:01 PM on January 30, 2018, Anchorage Police responded to the Sportsman’s Warehouse on Old Seward in reference to a robbery. 32-year-old Aarron Settje shoplifted from the store. When store security confronted Aarron outside, he yelled for his friend who was waiting for him in a nearby vehicle. That second male got out of the vehicle with a pistol and threatened store personnel. Both men then left the scene. There were no injuries.

Police are still in the process of identifying the second man. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Aarron for Robbery I.

Aarron is a person of interest in the homicide of Kortez Brown on January 13, 2018. Aarron currently has five outstanding felony warrants and two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for seven separate cases.

Jan 16th Update:
Person of interest Carlton Tarkington was remanded on existing warrants after being located by APD’s Investigative Support Unit. APD is still asking the public’s help in locating Aarron Settje. Jan 15th Update:
Detectives are looking for two persons of interest, Aarron Settje and Carlton Tarkington, in the homicide of Kortez Brown (photos attached).

Investigators believe they may have information regarding the events that lead to Mr. Brown’s death.

Both Settje and Tarkington have existing unrelated felony warrants.

Jan 14th Update:
The victim from last night's shooting has died. He has been identified as 33-year-old Kortez Brown.

There is no suspect information to release at this time.

At 9:53pm officers responded to a call of a shooting at the 8000 block of E. 36th Avenue.

When they arrived on scene they found one adult male victim with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police are still in the area and E. 36th remains closed.
