Homicide; 7500-block Island Drive
Update on 10/7/14:
Anchorage Police responded to a residence located at the 7500 block of Island Drive at about 7:15 this morning in reference to a report that a foster child had shot and killed his foster father sometime during the night. The information was reported to an APD School Resource Officer by a student who had knowledge of the incident.
When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered a 64-year-old deceased adult male in an upstairs bedroom. The victim had sustained several gunshot wounds. Officers located his foster child, Peter John Henry, 16, asleep in a downstairs bedroom. Henry was detained and transported to APD where he was questioned throughout the day.
During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Henry had been recently grounded for using the illegal drug Spice. Henry was also angry with the victim for searching his room and taking his vapor cigarette charger. After shooting the victim, Henry stole a wallet, iPad, watch, and phone from the victim’s bedroom. The cash was removed from the wallet and the wallet was discarded in front of the home to make it appear to look like a robbery. Henry then enlisted help from a juvenile male to destroy evidence, threatening to kill him if he didn’t do so.
Peter John Henry was charged as an adult with Murder 1, Coercion, Theft 2, Theft 4, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was taken to the Anchorage Jail where he is being held without bail.
