Homicide Investigation: 1000-block W 26th Avenue

A preliminary investigation shows that there was an altercation between two adult males. During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old James Patlan, was charged with Murder 1 and Murder 2 and remanded at the Anchorage Jail.

At 9:20 PM on June 16, 2022, APD Swing-Shift Patrol responded to the 1000 block of 26th Ave for a reported physical altercation inside a residence.  

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and was later declared deceased. 

This was an isolated incident and all persons involved have been contacted. There are no additional suspects outstanding.  One adult male suspect was taken into custody by police. 

The Crime Scene team has responded to process the scene.  Please avoid the area and follow the officers’ instructions if you need to be in the vicinity. 

The victim's identity will not be publicly released by APD due to this being a DV crime.
