Homicide Investigation on the 2700-block of W 32nd Av

Update on 8/19/24:

Through the investigation it has been determined the suspect and victim were former roommates.  Under Alaska State law that qualifies this crime as a domestic violence incident.  Therefore, the victim’s name will not be released by APD.

Update at 8:40 PM on 8/18/24:

33-year-old Cecil A. Skipper made a call into APD Dispatch wherein he took responsibility for the death of a person known to him.  Police responded to the victim’s home and gave Skipper commands to come outside.  He was compliant and taken into custody without incident.  The victim was located inside with a stab wound to the upper body.

Cecil Skipper has been remanded at the Anchorage Jail for the charge of Murder in the First Degree.  The motive behind the death, and the relationship between the two, are still under investigation.

At 12:05 PM on August 18, 2024, Anchorage Police Day Shift Patrol Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 2700-block of W 32nd Avenue regarding a deceased person.  Upon arrival officers located the adult male victim inside an apartment; his death is being investigated as a homicide.  One person was detained at the scene and was transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.  Police believe they have contacted everyone involved.

The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the home.  There will be a continued police presence in the area while that occurs.  There are no road closures.
