Update on 9/14/16:

Anchorage Police are actively looking for 26-year-old Marcus Wright.  It is believed Wright has information regarding yesterday's murder of Treavonne Owens at 15th Avenue and E Street.

Anchorage police have charged 31-year-old Tommy Rumph Jr. in this morning’s fatal shooting near Downtown Anchorage. Rumph Jr. has been charged with Murder 1, Murder 2, MIW 3 (felon in possession) and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 4. Rumph Jr. was remanded to the Anchorage Jail.

Police received multiple calls from citizens just after 6:16 a.m. reporting a disturbance between two males outside near W 15th Avenue and E Street. It was also reported to police that one of the males had shot the other male and fled the area on foot. Police arrived on scene within 3 minutes and located a deceased male, later identified as 30-year-old Treavonne Owens, in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Police conducted a ground search in the area and alerts were sent out to the community asking the public for their assistance locating Rumph Jr. He was found by police outside near W 29th Avenue and Willow Street around 8:15 a.m. Rumph Jr. peacefully surrendered to police when they contacted him.

A preliminary investigation by detectives found that Rumph Jr. and Owens knew each other. Both had gotten into an altercation with one another which led to the homicide.

Police are thankful for the citizens who initially called in the disturbance and others who have contacted police throughout the day to provide further information. Owens’ next of kin have been notified.
