Homicide; Valley of the Moon Park

Update November 2016:

30-year-old James Dale Ritchie was identified as the suspect in this case.  He was never charged as he was shot and killed during a shoot-out with police on November 12, 2016 (APD Case 16-47382).  Police fatally shot Ritchie after Ritchie shot and severely injured an APD Officer.

 

Update on 8/30/16:

25-year-old Bryant Dehusson and 34-year-old Kevin Turner are the two individuals who were killed in Sunday's Valley of the Moon Park double homicide. Their next-of-kin have been notified.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is on-going.

 

Update on 8/29/16:

Police have identified both victims in yesterday's Valley of the Moon Park double homicide.  One of them is 25-year-old Bryant C. Dehusson of Anchorage.  The second victim's name is being held until next-of-kin notification has been made.

 

Original on 8/28/16:

Just before 2 AM on Sunday, August 28, 2016, Anchorage Police received a call from a citizen stating they found a deceased person on the bike path at Valley of the Moon Park.  Police arrived and found a male who appeared to be a victim of a homicide.  As police were searching the area they found another male victim nearby, also in the park, who was deceased and appeared to be a homicide victim.

The park has been shut down while police investigate but there are no road closures.  No one is in custody.

Further information will be released as details are confirmed in the case.
