Jessica Zacaleta Arrested for Assault
Update on 7/28/23 at 3:30 PM:
On July 27, 2023, at 7:40pm officers responded to the 6000-block of Debarr road in reference to a disturbance with a gun.
Earlier in the day, officers attempted to contact 30-year-old Jessica Zavaleta for a violation of a DV protective order, where she refused to exit her residence. Officers left the residence to apply for an arrest warrant.
While officers were waiting on the warrant, an adult male (unrelated to the earlier incident) arrived at the same residence to take custody of a juvenile. During the interaction, Jessica Zavaleta produced a gun and pointed it at the man, who left the residence and called 911. When officers arrived, Zavaleta again refused to exit the residence. The Crisis Negotiation and SWAT teams responded to the scene and after several hours of negotiation, Zavaleta exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Jessica Zavaleta was remanded at the Hiland Correctional Center for Assault 3, Violating a DV Protective Order and two counts of Resisting Arrest.

There is a large police presence at the 6000-block of Debarr Rd and Atkinson Drive for a barricaded suspect.
Westbound Debarr Road & Atkinson Drive are currently closed. Please follow officers’ instructions if you are in the area to include evacuation of your home if necessary. If you do not need to be in the vicinity, avoid it and seek alternative routes until further notice.
APD Special Operations has responded to the scene. This unit includes Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), the Tactical Support Unit (TSU), the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), and/or the Mobile Intervention Team (MIT). Depending on the actions of the suspect, our response may require using a variety of tactics and tools (to include the drone) to apprehend her. This could also involve the deploying of chemical agents; nearby citizens with respiratory illnesses/sensitivities should remain inside and make sure doors and windows are closed.
We ask both the public and the media to refrain from posting/publishing photos and/or video of the scene until the situation is over. Showing tactical positions and movements in these types of situations can put the public and officers’ safety at risk.
We appreciate the community's cooperation and understanding during our response, and we will keep you informed of any new developments.
