Lamarcus Robinson Charged in Weapons Offense Investigation
At 3:01 AM on September 23, 2023, two mid-shift patrol officers heard two gunshots fired from the parking lot located in the southeast corner of W 3rd Avenue and I Street. Immediately following the shots, multiple people and vehicles fled from the area.
Through the subsequent investigation it was determined that 29-year-old Lamarcus A. Robinson was standing in the parking lot and had gotten into a verbal altercation. During that exchange, Robinson produced a handgun. Robinson discharged the gun twice; at least one of the shots was fired in the direction of where people were standing. All involved parties left the scene; Robinson left in a white Ford F150 pickup.
Just shy of one hour later, at 3:58 AM, another mid-shift officer saw a white Ford F150 on Camelot Drive near Boniface Parkway. The truck matched that of the one involved in the weapons offense earlier that night. The officer followed the truck while waiting for backup units to arrive. While doing so, the officer saw the truck’s driver drift over the painted lane lines several times. Once other units were in the area, the officer conducted a traffic stop on Boundary Avenue just prior to Turpin Street.
The driver, Lamarcus Robinson, was given commands to step out of the vehicle. Robinson was initially uncooperative but eventually he exited the truck and was handcuffed. During their interaction with Robinson, the officers noticed signs of impairment. Robinson was transported to the Anchorage Jail where Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were conducted. Robinson was remanded on the charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV – Possess While Intoxicated, Driving Under the Influence, Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV – Firing Recklessly, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon II – Fire Gun at Building.
Officers obtained and subsequently served a search warrant on Robinson’s truck; a handgun was seized as evidence. The truck was impounded as part of the DUI investigation.
No injured persons were found. The motive behind the initial argument, along with whether those involved were previously known to one another, are still under investigation.
