PIUS JOE ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY AT FRED MEYER ON DEBARR RD.
On April 9, 2025, at approximately 6:02 PM, officers from the APD’s Swing Shift were dispatched to Fred Meyer located at 7701 Debarr Road in response to a robbery. Initial reports indicate that 41-year-old Pius Anthony Joe returned to the store after being trespassed earlier in the day. When confronted by Loss Prevention (LP) security officers, they observed Joe shoplifting merchandise. As they attempted to detain him and recover the stolen items, a physical altercation occurred. Joe used force to resist the security officers and exited the store with the stolen merchandise.
Upon arrival, responding APD officers located Joe in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Although he resisted arrest, the officers were able to place him in handcuffs. Initially, Joe provided officers with false identification. After verifying his identity, the officers discovered that he had an outstanding felony warrant.
Pius Joe was subsequently remanded at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on his existing warrant, along with new charges including Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Theft in the Fourth Degree, Providing False Information, and Criminal Trespass.
