Investigation Update on May 12, 2016:

On Thursday, May 12, 2016, Anchorage Police charged 37-year-old Jeffrey McCracken with Murder II and Manslaughter in connection with the death of his girlfriend which occurred yesterday morning.  A preliminary investigation found that McCracken used physical force to take Ragan’s life. The investigation is still ongoing. Next of kin have been notified.

Both McCracken and the victim were homeless.  McCracken was remanded to the Anchorage Jail where his initial bail was set at $250,000 cash and $10,000 cash/performance plus third party.


Original Release on May 11, 2016:

Anchorage Police responded to a medical emergency at 3:40 AM this morning at a campsite located near the 2800 block of Richmond Drive behind Tyson Elementary School.  The caller stated that his girlfriend was unconscious and not breathing.  The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was declared deceased.  The woman's identity has not yet been confirmed and next of kin has not been notified.
