September 16, 2022 Message From The Chief
During Hispanic Heritage Month, the Anchorage Police Department recognizes and appreciates the various cultures and achievements of Hispanic individuals and communities across Anchorage, our state, and our Nation. The 2022 theme is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation,” and this is a time to recognize the people and cultures that have inspired countless others and continue to bring people together. Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15th to October 15th to celebrate the histories, traditions, and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The start date, September 15th, is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
Anchorage is an extremely diverse community, and during this National Hispanic Heritage Month, we are extremely proud of the diversity that makes our city great.
Respectfully,
Chief Michael Kerle
