Shooting Investigation on the 7400-block of Nancy Street
Initial indications are that shortly after 4AM on May 23, 2023, an adult male entered the home where his ex-girlfriend lives on the 7400-block of Nancy Street. While inside, the adult male was shot in both the lower body and upper body. The victim male left the residence, got in his vehicle, and drove a short distance away where APD officers were working on an unrelated call. While those officers were rendering first aid to the victim, the officers saw a pickup truck being driven away from the home where the shooting had taken place. The officers aired a locate over the radio for the truck.
Other officers located the truck and conducted a traffic stop near Brayton Drive and E 64th Avenue. 22-year-old Elteyvionne Z. Carlton, an adult female, and a young child were inside. The child was placed with the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) while the two adults were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning.
After the interviews were conducted, Carlton was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the felony charge of Misconduct Involving a Weapon III – Felon in Possession. The adult female was not charged.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening wounds.
Police believe they have contacted everyone involved. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, to include who fired the weapon, are still under investigation. More charges may be forthcoming.
