Student charged in threats investigation at Eagle River Elementary School

On December 14, 2021, a student at Eagle River Elementary School saw a threatening note written by a classmate.  The witness student went home and notified their parents who called the Anchorage Police Department.  Mid-shift patrol officers responded and initiated the investigation.

 In the early morning of December 15, 2021, a patrol officer assigned to the School Resource Unit (SRO) contacted the school staff, the suspect student, and the suspect student’s parents.  Charges for the suspect student were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

 APD is grateful to the student who saw something that looked wrong and reported it.
