WARRANT SERVICE: 800 block of Karluk Street

 CURRENT STATUS: Initial Report

NARRATIVE: At approximately 11:58 a.m. on January 6, 2025, Anchorage Police Department (APD) officers attempted to serve a search warrant to a person of interest in an ongoing homicide investigation at a residence on the 800 block of Karluk Street.

The subject inside the home refused to answer the door and did not cooperate with the negotiators. Officers utilized a drone to assess the situation. Upon making entry, officers located an adult male with gunshot trauma to the upper body. The individual was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

There is currently a large police presence in the area. Please avoid the area if possible to allow officers and investigators to conduct their work safely and efficiently.

The Crime Scene Unit is on-site investigating. APD officers fired no shots, and no officers were injured during the incident.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Detectives have contacted everyone believed to be involved in this investigation and are not looking for anyone now.  They believe this is an isolated incident and not random.
