Charlotte Lake and Chance Lealao facing several charges in home robbery investigation

At 6:40 AM on December 30, 2021, Anchorage Police responded to a mobile home on the 1000-block of Boniface Parkway regarding an armed robbery.  Initial indications are that 29-year-old Charlotte K. Lake had gone to her ex-boyfriend’s home to collect items that belonged to her.  Due to her erratic and aggressive behavior, the victim asked Lake to leave which she did.

A few hours later Lake returned to the victim’s home with 25-year-old Chance J. Lealao (whom the victim did not know).  Lake and Lealao broke in through the home’s rear door.  When the two entered, the victim saw Lealao holding a shotgun.  When Lealao and Lake began to argue, the victim took the opportunity to run out of the open back door and down the street.  The victim was able to find a citizen who lent the victim a cell phone to use to call police.   While the victim was on the phone with APD Dispatch, he saw Lake driving away in the victim’s 1997 blue GMC pickup.

One of the arriving mid-shift officers saw the stolen GMC being driven eastbound on E 6th Avenue near Staedem Drive.  The officer advised over the radio that he saw the stolen truck.  Another unit was nearby; the two officers conducted a traffic stop and blocked in the pickup.  The officers began giving the occupants commands as several backup officers arrived at the scene. Both Lake and Lealao were taken into custody without incident.  After being transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives, they were each remanded on the charges of Robbery I, Vehicle Theft I, and Theft II.  Lake also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

The victim suffered a minor injury during the incident that did not require immediate medical attention.
