John Nocholson arrested by K9 for warrants, escape and resisting arrest

On 12/31/21 at 8:38PM an APD officer conducted a traffic on a vehicle at the North Eagle River exit from the Glenn Highway. A computer check declared that the driver had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.  37-year-old John Nocholson was taken into custody and arrested for his warrants.  Nocholson was able to escape from police custody and fled the area while still in handcuffs. A perimeter was set up and a K9 track team was formed to search for Nocholson. K9 Ray tracked Nocholson through the neighborhoods and the wooded area north of the Glenn Highway and over fences on and off of JBER.  K9 Ray located Nocholson and K9 warnings were given. The suspect ignored the warnings and once again tried to run away.  K9 Ray was deployed and subsequently apprehended Nocholson.  Nocholson continued to resist arrest and fought with assisting officers. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Nocholson was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.  Nocholson was remanded to the Anchorage Jail and faces charges for his existing warrants, Escape and resisting arrest. 

None of the involved officers, nor K9 Ray, were injured during this incident.
