Homicide Investigation On the 400-Block of North Bragaw Street

Update on 11/21/23:

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Matagiofa J. Sione.  Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

 This is an on-going investigation; police believe they have contacted everyone involved.  No charges have been filed.

Update 11/19/23 at 6:44 PM:

This is now being investigated as a homicide.

At 3:14 AM on November 19, 2023, Anchorage Police Mid Shift officers responded to the area of North Bragaw Street and Thompson Avenue regarding a shooting. An adult male victim was located outside and transported by AFD Medics to a local hospital. The adult male victim was declared deceased shortly after.

The suspect has been detained.

The Crime Scene Team will be responding to process the scene.

There are currently no road closures. Please avoid the area. If you must be in the area, please follow officer instructions. Thank you for your cooperation.

Depending on the situation, our response may require using a variety of tactics and tools, to include the drone.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information regarding this incident, to include surveillance footage of the area, is asked to call Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1) or 907-786-8900 (option 0).
