This case is now classified as a homicide investigation.
The preliminary investigation has determined that the adult male victim suffered trauma to the body. The identity of the victim will be released pending next of kin procedures. This investigation is ongoing.

At 12:14 AM on Sunday, February 17, 2019, APD responded to the 1300-block of W 36th Avenue. A citizen had reported they saw a deceased person lying behind a business. Officers responded and located the body. The person who made the discovery stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.
APD’s Crime Scene Team responded to process the scene and help determine the circumstances involving the death. Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who has surveillance footage of the area, is asked to contact Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option #1).
