Homicide; 3200-block E 41st Avenue

Update on 12/9/15:

Anchorage police have charged 71-year-old Rita Pinkston in the fatal shooting of her 60-year-old husband.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment residence located on the 3200 block of E 41st Avenue just before 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Police located the victim inside of the residence with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased about a half hour later. Police took the shooting suspect, Rita Pinkston, into custody at the scene. It was reported to police that the couple had gotten into a verbal altercation just before the shooting. Rita Pinkston has been charged with Murder 1 and two counts of Murder 2.

Next of kin have been notified.

Anchorage police are investigating a fatal shooting of a male at a residence located on the 3200 block of E 41st Avenue early this morning.

Police responded to an apartment residence just before 2:00 a.m. to a report of a shooting. An adult male who had been shot was located inside of the home in critical condition. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

APD’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Team are investigating the shooting. A suspect has been taken into custody. Additional details will be released as they come available.
