Homicide; 4000-block Merrill Drive
Update:
Detectives determined there were two persons of interest involved in this investigation.
On 11/8/19, they were located by the Investigative Support Unit (ISU), questioned by detectives and arrested on unrelated charges.
During this time, detectives continued to investigate and determined the two are the suspects in this homicide.
They have been identified as Rhadames “Nino” Marmolejos Jr. (27 years old) and Elijah “Thug” Ramirez (23 years old) and face multiple charges including Murder 1 and Kidnapping.
Update 11/6/19 @ 10:40 AM:
The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Oscar Garcia. Next-of-kin notification has been made.
While the investigation is ongoing, police do believe it was a targeted event and not random. No further information is available for release at this time.
Update 11/3/19 3:30 PM:
This is now being investigated as a homicide. The preliminary investigation found that the adult male victim suffered trauma to the body. Detectives have cause to believe this is an isolated incident and there is no public safety threat at this time. There have been no arrests.
The victim's identity will be released pending next-of-kin procedures.

On 11/3/19 at 1:00 p.m., Officers with the Patrol Division responded to a residential area on the 4000 block of Merrill Drive in reference to a report of a deceased person inside a parked vehicle.
One adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries. While the cause of death is still under investigation, the victim's death is suspicious in nature. APD Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Team have responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
