Serious Injury Traffic Investigation; E Eagle River Loop Rd/Wolf Den Drive

Update--9:45PM--11/08/22
At 05:27 PM on November 08, 2022, officers assigned to swing shift patrol and medics with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the intersection of East Eagle River Loop Road and Wolf Den Drive in reference to a multi vehicle collision with injuries.
 
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Volvo S80 traveling southbound on Wolf Den Drive got into a collision with a Toyota Highlander that was traveling westbound on E Eagle River Loop Road. The Toyota Highlander then collided with a Toyota Sienna that was stopped at the eastbound intersection of Hiland Road and E Eagle River Loop Road.
 
Medics arrived and transported the adult male driver of the Volvo S80 to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.  The adult female passenger of the Volvo S80 was transported by medics to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of both the Toyota Highlander and the Toyota Sienna had no reported injuries.
 
The outbound off ramp to Hiland remains closed while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) process the scene. E Eagle River Loop Road is also closed in both directions.  A drone may be used in the investigation. Please use alternative routes. If you need to access Hiland Road or Wolf Den Drive, please take Eagle River Loop Road. You cannot access this area from VFW Road.

The circumstances of the collisions are still under investigation. No citations have been issued.

The Hiland Rd exit off the Glenn Highway in Eagle River is closed while officers investigate a vehicle collision with injuries.  Please use the Eagle River exit instead and expect delays Northbound on the Glenn Hwy in that area.
