Traffic Fatality: Southbound Minnesota Drive at 34th Avenue

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Kaycie Martin. Next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.

At 3:47 AM on September 13, 2024, APD Patrol officers and medics with the Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) responded southbound Minnesota Drive near 34th Avenue in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Initial indications are that an adult male driving a Honda Pilot was travelling south on Minnesota Drive when he collided with an adult female pedestrian who was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk. Life-saving measures were performed on the victim; she was ultimately declared deceased at the scene by AFD Medics.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. The dynamics of the crash are still under investigation. No charges have been filed.

The southbound lanes of Minnesota Drive will be closed from Benson Avenue to Spenard Road while investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) process the scene. Traffic will be diverted while this investigation occurs; please use alternative routes.

The victim’s identity will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
