Wyatt Allen facing several charges after a hotel disturbance
At 1:12 AM on March 28, 2023, Anchorage Police mid-shift patrol officers responded to the Inlet Towers located at 1020 W 12th Avenue. Initial indications are that 28-year-old Wyatt J. Allen was staying in a room with his girlfriend when they got into an argument. When the victim attempted to leave the room, Allen physically held her back so that she couldn’t go. A hotel security guard was advised of the disturbance and responded to the room. After the guard knocked on the room’s door, Allen emerged and challenged the security guard to a fight. Allen physically assaulted the guard which caused visible injuries. While Allen and the guard were fighting in the hallway, the adult female locked the door. Allen forced entry back into the room causing damage to the lock. At some point during the incident, Allen broke the victim’s phone.
When police arrived, they saw an injured Allen in the front lobby. Allen attempted to walk past the officers while proclaiming he had a gun and shoving his hands into his waistband. Officers went hands-on and ordered Allen to remove his hands from the front of his pants which Allen refused to do. While physically struggling with police, Allen made statements suggesting he would cause harm to himself with a gun all-the-while reaching into his clothing like he was trying to retrieve a weapon. During the altercation, one of the officers sustained minor injuries to his wrist.
A third officer arrived and deployed his Taser which caused Allen to cease fighting. Allen was placed into handcuffs and searched. No firearm was recovered. Medics arrived at the scene to evaluate Allen however Allen refused to cooperate. Allen was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A computer check of Allen revealed that Allen had four open criminal cases. It was also discovered that Allen had cut off his electronic monitoring device. Wyatt Allen was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Criminal Mischief III, four counts of Escape II, five counts of Assault III, Assault IV, four counts of Violate Conditions of Release, and Resisting.
The security guard suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention at the scene. The female victim was evaluated by medics at the hotel. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor on behalf of the suspect.
